Germantown, TN is a town of 41,133 people as of the 2020 census, with the city of Memphis to its west, Collierville to the east, and just north of the Mississippi state line. Originally settled in the early 1800s by William Twyford and Frances Wright, the area’s name was changed from Pea Ridge to Germantown in 1836 to reflect the number of German settlers here. With its own historic preservation society, Germantown has more than 50 homes listed, all which were built before the turn of the 20th century.
