Standing Out with Home Staging

Staging your home is one of the best ways to present it to buyers and one of the best ways to sell it faster. A well-staged home will stand out as noteworthy, good looking, and inviting. I have some simple tips to help you make your home stand out with staging.

How to Make Your Home Stand Out With Staging

When you decide to sell your home, staging it to look occupied but not cluttered or messy is the key. There are many steps you can take to improve the look of your home and make it extraordinary so it stands out from other houses in your neighborhood.

  1. Clean Up – A house for sale should always look very clean. It’s actually at the top of the list of things to do to sell a home quickly. It can be difficult to keep a home clean for showings when living there still. But please know this will provide the best opportunity for people to see your home as special, and avoid any distraction caused by dirty or messy spaces.
  2. Eliminate Clutter – Also at the top of the list. Remove and pack up everything that isn’t essential or useful for top-notch showings. Remove personal items and photos. Clear off table tops, counters, and desks to give the impression of a good looking space that isn’t filled with a lot of stuff.
  3. Remove Extra Furniture – Is the room overfilled with furniture? Can a piece be used in another room or moved out of the house while it is being sold? Use furniture that highlights the space but doesn’t interfere with walking areas, doors, or flow.
  4. Remember the Outside – A buyer walking up to a house for sale should be captivated by the appearance of your front yard and home. The yard should be tidy, presentable, tasteful, and uncluttered. Remove lawn ornaments and yard debris. Repair or refresh landscaping, the front door area, and any other unsightly exterior areas. This part of a home should stand out as charming and inviting for pictures and visitors alike.

What Should I Use to Stage my Home?

Staging your home can easily start with your own furniture and belongings as long as everything is in good shape and fits the space. If anything is really out of date, it could be covered or removed if necessary. But, ultimately, a home seller’s possessions are often a good option for staging.
